When to be denied asylum in Canada?

Some people are not eligible to claim protection from Canada and the competent officer decides whether or not this person is eligible for protection and asylum in Canada and then presents the person to an independent refugee court.

The application for asylum in Canada is denied in the following cases:

1- The person has been recognized as a refugee in another country to which he can return.

2- The person applying for asylum to Canada has already been granted protection by Canada.

3- If the person has arrived in Canada via the Canadian land border from the United States of America, unless the person has a family in Canada, the person can then apply for asylum in Canada.

4- It is unacceptable for security reasons or because of criminal activity or violations of human rights.

5- The person has already been assessed and found to be ineligible for referral to the Refugee and Refugee Board.

6- The person has been denied asylum application by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board.

7- The person applied for asylum in Canada and withdrew his asylum application again.
